Dictate To Those Stretch Marks

Jennifer is very beautiful, well shaped and highly fashionable. She has everything going for her except that she’s not confident of her body underneath the cloth she’s wearing. She has turned down several proposals from men because she dreads the look that will be on their face when they finally get to see those “scary” stretch marks on her body. She has been told stretch marks are permanent and thus she it’s a cross she has to bear.

David is very tall and handsome. His charms and body build make ladies lose control when they are with him. They see his cute face and cute body from the clothes, but they won’t get to see the “not so cute” scars on his body until he takes them home. He doesn’t care about removing them, because he has been made to believe stretch marks can’t be removed.

Men and Women can get stretch marks on several parts of their body including their abdomen, hips, breast, thighs, buttocks, upper arms, and lower back. The marks occur in the Dermis, the elastic middle layer of skin that allows it to retain its shape. When constantly stretched, the Dermis can break down, leaving stretch marks behind.

Stretch marks are a form of scarring that happens when skin doesn’t bounce back after it’s been stretched by pregnancy, weight gain, or extreme weight loss. Stretch marks often start off looking reddish or purplish and then become glossy, making the skin appear to be streaked in silver or white.  Genetic factors may also play a role. Basically, if your mother had them, you’re probably going to have them.

It might surprise you that stretch marks don’t look the same on everyone. The appearance of stretch marks depends on the color of your skin; they can start out pink, reddish brown, brown, or dark brown, and fade over time to a more silvery color.

Good news is that, contrary to what Jennifer, David and many of us think, stretch marks can actually be removed…totally.

When stretch marks show up, it’s best to treat them as early as possible. The degree of success with any treatment will depend on your age, your skin tone, and even your diet. Research has focused on the early stages of stretch marks, when they are still red or purple and most readily respond to treatment. Once stretch marks pass the initial stage, when they are red or purple, to the later stages, where they become white or silver often with deep indentations, they are much more challenging to treat.

•Use a moisturizer. Think of it this way: if your skin has a lot of stretching to do, it’s less likely to tear and create stretch marks if it’s hydrated. Use lotion on new stretch marks, or on areas where you’re worried about getting them in the future.
Though using lotion on old stretch marks may still improve their appearance, it’s probably not as effective as using them on fresh ones. If you’re worried about the chemicals in over-the-counter moisturizers, make your own out of equal parts wheat germ oil, olive oil and aloe vera. Moisturizing with products that contain Shea Butter as a prime ingredient will help you get rid of those marks. Massage the moisturizer deep into breasts, belly, hips, and buttocks.

•Increase your Vitamin C intake. Dermatologists suggests that 500 mg of Vitamin C, taken as an oral supplement, can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

•If you are pregnant, discuss your concern with your doctor at the beginning of your pregnancy, before stretch marks develop. That way you and your doctor can consider preventive strategies.

•Many products claim to “repair” stretch marks but only a few work. For example, cocoa butter has not been proven to reduce stretch marks . In a study, cocoa butter was not shown to have any discernible effect on stretch marks. Be wary of marketing schemes that claim otherwise. Peptide-containing products also haven’t been proven to work . “Repair” creams or serums that claim to contain peptides or proteins have not been proven to restore skin damaged by stretch marks

Ultimately, for those who are resigned to the fact that stretch marks are permanent and can’t be fixed, you could start curing the marks by first erasing this mind set, then you continually try out these aforementioned tips to treat them and you will enjoy a smooth, fresh and spotless skin.
