Amanda Bynes has been hospitalized on a 5150 psychiatric hold, according to a TMZ report on Friday. The actress, who has been exhibiting bizarre behavior over the past few weeks, flew to Los Angeles from New York City on Friday, the same day she was reportedly escorted out of NYC’s La Guardia airport after making a scene. According to TMZ, as soon as Amanda touched down in LA, she was whisked away to a Pasadena, California, hospital.
The site reports that Amanda’s parents, Rick and Lynn, had to trick the Hairspray actress into thinking she was heading to the London Hotel in West Hollywood upon leaving to the airport.
“In fact the parents had made arrangement with the car service to take her to a Pasadena hospital where their lawyer, Tamar Armiak was waiting with doctors,” TMZ reports.
The 5150 hold, which is issued by a judge and done when a person is deemed to be a risk to themselves or others, will keep Amanda hospitalized for mental evaluation for at least 72 hours. After that, it will be determined whether or not the hold needs to be extended.
This is not the first time a psychiatric hold has been issued for Amanda. In June 2013, she was placed on a 5150 hold after starting a fire in the driveway of a home in Thousand Oaks, California. She remained in treatment until December 2013, when she was released into the care of her parents.
