Chris Hemsworth was recently named the Sexiest Man Alive by People Magazine, so you would think that he would be on cloud nine about his success. However, it turns out that fame isn’t really all it’s cracked up to be. The actor has now admitted that despite being a Hollywood star, he hasn’t really experienced the type of happiness he thought he would get.
Being featured in the February issue of GQ Australia, he spoke about how his expectations of fame turned out to be inaccurate. “You get to Hollywood, you achieve something and then you realize, ‘S**t, it didn’t actually bring me the happiness I thought it was going to. It didn’t fix anything,” he said. “Look, I mean I don’t wake up, look in the mirror and go, ‘Yep, all is perfect.'”
To make matters worse, it’s not just that fame changes these Hollywood stars once they make it big, but it also changes the people around them, Chris included. It turns out that he’s experienced a lot of new friends who didn’t seem like they cared about him prior to his success. This is something that has completely disgusted him about the industry.
“It’s bullst. I remember how differently people treated me when things went well. Some directors and producers who never gave a st—at best, they’d have given me a sideways glance. Next time I saw them, they’re my best friend,” he added. “That’s gross.”
Despite these unfortunate situations, it’s hard to say that Chris isn’t living the life that most people could only dream of. The actor has six new films that will all be released in the next two years. Some of these include Avengers: Age Of Ultron, The Huntsman, and Thor: Ragnarok.
Although Chris is known for his work in these Marvel superhero type films, the actor has also been able to branch out these roles.
Thankfully, his performance in the film Rush opened doors for him to take on roles that no one really expected from him “Everything shifted for me after Rush. It wasn’t as financially successful as other things I’d done, but it gave me more movement, more options, more doors opening, more meetings.” He explained.
“All of a sudden, it’s, ‘Oh, wow! You’re an actor!'”
In that case, at least Chris can be happy about that right? You know, since fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, let’s hope diversifying his roles will bring him the true happiness he desires. If not, he can still bask in the glory of being the sexiest man alive.
